Overview

The Whale and the Bird is a truly unique power catamaran designed by Hunt Associates and built by CCI Composites for the son of C Raymond Hunt.  With her cored fiberglass construction and  twin Yamaha 4 stroke outboards she cruises effortlessly at 19-20 knots and has a top end in the upper 30 knot range.  Her twin hull design handles chop nicely and she leaves  a minimal wake.  At 3,500 rpm (app. 19 knots) she reportedly burns about 4 gph which is exceptional fuel economy and is a result of her efficient design and light construction as she weighs in the neighborhood of 3,100  with hull and motors less fuel.  She has simple accommodations as well, and her owner cruised the boat along parts of the great circle route from Cincinnati to Florida.
